beauty in thailand vs. japan

Thai people really like beauty, being beautiful and beautiful things. Good presentation is very important here, both of yourself and of anything you are trying to get other people to buy.

I see Japan and Thailand as two cultures with very strong aesthetic traditions, with the average person having a very strong sense of beauty. This is not true of Canada, for example.

But I think that the Thai idea of beauty is about pleasure: it gives pleasure to be surrounded by beautiful things and beautiful people, and it’s unpleasant to see ugly people and ugly things. Whereas the Japanese idea of beauty is the pursuit of perfection and refinement as a spiritual quest.

Being Thai and now a Japanese major in college, I’d like to think it is so.

It surprised me how you are able to understand the core of both cultures quite clearly!
