one monday in bangkok

This is probably only funny if you live in Bangkok.

In Thai culture there is a color associated with each day of the week. Yellow is Monday’s color, and it is also the King’s color. On Monday, all civil servants in Bangkok are required to wear yellow, and many other office workers choose to wear yellow as well.

On Monday the city is a big sea of yellow.

Interesting, I didn’t realize that they’re still wearing yellow on a Monday. Monday is also the day that the king was born, and that’s the reason as to why it’s his color.

I love your blog, I read it all the time, but never comment, just want to say hi. 🙂

Thanks Nye! Nice to hear from you and glad that you enjoy the blog. 🙂

Yep, lots of people still wearing yellow. I only recently found out that government employees HAVE to wear yellow — our teachers told us this in class.
